Bollywood actors Vidya Balan, Rana Daggubati and Bengali actor Jisshu Sengupta will be seen in the upcoming biopic on legendary Telugu actor-turned-politician Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, popularly known as NTR. It has been said that Vidya will be playing the role of NTR’s wife, Rana, to play the role of Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandra Babu Naidu, who is also NTR’s son-in-law. Jisshu will be seen playing the role of ace filmmaker and Dadasaheb Phalke awardee LV Prasad, who launched NTR’s career as a screen actor in 1949 with Mana Desam. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh, announced this on Twitter saying, “IT’S OFFICIAL… Vidya Balan in #NTR biopic… She enacts the part of NTR’s wife Basavatarakam… NTR’s son Balakrishna enacts the role of NTR… Directed by Krish… Produced by Balakrishna, Sai Korrapati and Vishnu Vardhan Induri [co-producing #1983Biopic in Hindi]. #NTRBiopic”.The titular role will be played by Nandamuri Balakrishna. Vidya has always been interested in regional films but it did not really work out for the actor for different reasons.

Earlier this year, the film was launched by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu at the Ramakrishna Studios, Hyderabad. Earlier, director Teja was supposed to be directing the film but he walked out even before the shooting began and the offer went to Krish. Recently, Balakrishna, who is also producing the film, announced that director Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi, popularly known as Krish, will be directing the film. Balakrishna said that this biopic is his dream project and thought that this would be a perfect tribute to the actor-politician. There are reports that the writers of the film are given strict instructions from Balayya to not hurt anyone’s feelings through the film and also to show some of the unknown aspects of NTR’s life that are not known to many.

The film is expected to hit the silver screens during the first half of 2019. According to reports, the film revolves around NTR’s days as a government employee and how he entered the film industry and then went on to become the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh.
