The unfortunate bombing in Sri Lanka on Easter, in which more than 250 people lost their lives, moved people across the world to come together for the island nation and condemn the attack. Actress Jacqueline Fernandez, who hails from Sri Lanka, recently uploaded a series of videos on her Instagram handle, urging fans to come forward and join her in rebuilding the lives of the people affected by the attacks.

Taking to her Instagram handle earlier today, Jacqueline posted the video with the caption “#uniteforsrilanka”. In the video, she can be heard saying, “I am making this video to share my thoughts on what happened last week in Sri Lanka. To be honest, I needed some time to fully comprehend what I was feeling and what had happened. It was difficult for me to understand why so many innocent lives had to be taken, many of which children. Terrorist attacks like these are unfortunately unpredictable. They also seem to be completely out of our control and there seems to be little that we can do about them.”

Encouraging fans to be compassionate for the victims and help them rebuild their lives, she shared, “I have teamed up with an organisation called Trail, which is helping victims of the tragedy rebuild their lives. Please join me in helping these victims rebuild their lives.” She further added, “Let’s put aside nationality, caste, ethnicity and religion and come together as one. I’d also like to say let’s not give up on humanity, let’s not allow fear and anger to dictate how we react and how we feel and what we are thinking.”

She ended the video by leaving a message for the citizens of her country and said, “Sri Lanka please stay strong, stay positive and most importantly stay united.”

On the professional front, Jacqueline Fernandez is set to make her debut in the digital space with Netflix’s upcoming thriller Mrs Serial Killer. The film is directed by Shirish Kunder and produced by his wife Farah Khan. Mrs Serial Killer is slated to be released on Netflix later this year. Jacqueline will also be seen next in Drive, opposite Sushant Singh Rajput. She even has Kick 2, opposite Salman Khan, in her kitty.
