The makers of Shahid Kapoor starrer Kabir Singh have released its first poster. It shows a silhouette of Shahid’s character smoking two cigarettes with a stethoscope around his neck. The poster is also the official announcement of the teaser release date. It says that the first teaser of Kabir Singh will be out on Monday, April 8. The film is an official remake of Telugu sleeper hit Arjun Reddy, directed by Sandeep Vanga. He has also helmed the Shahid starrer Hindi version of the film.

Shahid shared the poster on Twitter and wrote, “Find the #kabirsingh within you. @Advani_Kiara @imvangasandeep @itsBhushanKumar @MuradKhetani #KrishanKumar @ashwinvarde @TSeries @Cine1Studios @KabirSinghMovie” (sic)

Kabir Singh features actor Kiara Advani opposite Shahid in the lead. The film is about the story of a surgeon who becomes an alcoholic and sets on a new journey of self-destruction after her girlfriend marries another man. While Vanga’s Arjun Reddy was based in Bangalore and Hyderabad, his Kabir Singh is based in Delhi and Mumbai. The film also touches on the subject of anger management issues and caste differences. It also highlights the importance of having loved ones around when the person is trying to fight drugs and psychological issues.

Kabir Singh is set to hit the screens on June 21. For his character in the film, Shahid had to beef-up his body and also grow a beard. In an interview earlier, he talked about what made him choose the titular role in the film. Shahid revealed that he was impressed with the honesty of the story and the director. He said that the story of the film is so raw that he immediately came on board. He also revealed that since his character has an ‘extreme emotional arc,’ it was a little difficult to play. Calling Arjun Reddy ‘amazing,’ Shahid said that the original film is still afresh in people’s minds, therefore, coming up with a remake is stressful.
