Releasing just when fans couldn’t wait anymore, Kalank‘s trailer starring Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sonakshi Sinha, Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt is finally out and roaring in viewership across social media platforms. Standing true to the colour red, which occupies a majority of the posters, teasers, backdrops and costumes of the movie, Kalank’s trailer is layered with all things red – love, hatred, heartbreaks, violence and energy of energetic dances.

Set in 1945, in Pre-Independence India, the trailer starts with Alia’s confession of ruining everyone’s lives by taking one decision in a fit of anger. The next few scenes show Aditya getting married to Alia but separately having feelings for Sonakshi while a bold Alia is seen eternalising her love unapologetically with Varun. Looking to be a tale of extra-marital affairs, the trailer also gives a sneak-peek into troubled relations between Madhuri and Sanjay while also sharing glimpses of various dance numbers in the movie. While actress Kiara Advani is seen dancing in the song ‘First Class,’ Kriti Sanon is seen grooving to another track. All in all, the trailer has set fans swooning over the larger than life tale and picturisation.

A few days ago the makers unveiled the film’s title track ‘Kalank Nahi Ishq Hai’ which received a lot of positive response from the audience. It is an intense soulful song composed by Pritam and crooned by Arijit Singh. Right from the teaser, the title track was the highlight of the film and a few glimpses were enough to pique the curiosity for the song. Earlier the makers released ‘Ghar More Pardesiya’ and ‘First Class’.

The film was originally conceptualised about 15 years back by late Yash Johar and his son Karan Johar, who has bankrolled the film.

Kalank is slated to hit the screens on April 17. The film is a period drama set in the era of India-Pakistan partition. The team has also shot for a few scenes in Kargil. Directed by Abhishek Varman, the movie is produced by Karan Johar, Sajid Nadiadwala, Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta and co-produced by Fox star studios.
