Actor Kangana Ranaut will be seen walking the red carpet at Cannes International Film Festival this year. She made a strong appearance at the gala last year as well and successfully managed to make heads turn at the red carpet. One of Kangana’s outing at the event had her wearing a saree, designed by Sabyasachi. Now, the actor once again gears up to rock the six-yard drape at the international platform.
Revealing that she is in talks with popular designer duo Falguni & Shane Peacock for her idea behind the saree, Kangana said that she is taking some drama and the essence of her nation with her as she attends the prestigious event this year. The actor talked to an entertainment portal and said that she is keen to reflect India’s cultural heritage by wearing a saree that represents the ‘forgotten weaves’ of our country.
Kangana was quoted by Pinkvilla saying, “The clothes I wear will have drama. At the same time, as an Indian actor on a global platform, I have the responsibility of endorsing our weavers and wearing outfits that reflect our rich cultural heritage.” She added that she has been brainstorming with her stylist Ami Patel over the kind of saree she would like to drape at Cannes 2019. She said, “The idea is to revive the forgotten weaves and bring them to the fore so that the world is more aware of our rich fabrics and culture.”
Kangana mentioned that she has never shied away from experimenting with her style or promoting Indian roots at a global platform. She went on to mention that she has always taken pride in being one of the few actors who wear saree while travelling. Talking about Indian presence at the recently held Met Gala 2019, Kangana showered heaps of praises on actors Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone. She said that “it’s wonderful how our women Priyanka (Chopra Jonas) and Deepika (Padukone) are making their mark there.” However, the Queen star took veteran actor Rekha’s name saying that she defines the real meaning of ‘Camp’ (the Met Gala theme this year) in India.
