Kangana Ranaut who was introduced by director Anurag Basu in 2004 in his crime-drama Gangster, will be working together again after eight years for the film Imali. The 2004 film of Kashyap also featured Emraan Hashmi and Shiney Ahuja. Kangana, at such a young age, managed to receive some of the year’s coveted awards.Talking about the film, Kangana told Mumbai Mirror that, “It’s too early to talk about Imali as we are starting the film around the end of the year. All I can say is that Anurag is my godfather and everything I am today is because of him… I can’t wait to go back to the beginning.”
In 2010, Kangana was reportedly upset about how Barbara Mori, the other leading lady got more screen space than her and also about how her role did not turn out to be the way it was narrated. Though upset, Kangana could not say no to Anurag because he was one of the few she could not refuse. The actor will start off with Imali once she is done with Ashwini Iyer Tiwary’s kabaddi drama which will release in October. For the film Kabaddi, the Manikarnika actor has started attending advanced yoga lessons and she will also be training with national level kabaddi players. Mumbai Mirror has quoted a source saying, “The prep for Imali is expected to begin by August but the film should roll only towards the year-end. The search for the male lead is on.”
Kangana is currently in London shooting for Ekta Kapoor’s Mental Hai Kya with Rajkummar Rao. Her upcoming film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi which was first said to release in April will now release in August.
