Indian cricketer Kapil Dev‘s daughter Amiya Dev is assisting director Kabir Khan on his next film titled ’83, starring Ranveer Singh. The film is currently in its pre-production work and Amiya is brushing her skills before she gets on to study filmmaking seriously. A news daily has reported that since ’83 is being made on a big scale, the film’s team is utilising as many hands as required in every department. The 23-year-old girl is quite active and making sure to contribute in each aspect of the filmmaking process.

As mentioned by Mumbai Mirror, Amiya is observing every minute detail from costume to fixing schedules. Chirag Patil, the son of cricketer Sandip Patil, who plays the character of his father in ’83 praised Amiya. He was quoted by the daily saying, “We met for the first time while working on the film. She’s from Delhi, I’, from Mumbai and she’s way younger than me. She’s part of our daily training sessions since she is on the direction team. So, she keeps us updating on any meetings we are supposed to attend. Whenever I’m in Kabir’s office, she’s there and is very involved in the process, be it planning the costumes or the schedule.”

Meanwhile, the actors in the film, who are playing the members of Indian world-cup winning cricket team, are being taken to a short trip to Dharamshala for 10 days. This is to bring a sense of togetherness and bonding among the actors, and also to work on their training.

’83 shows the glorious story of India’s first cricket World Cup win under captain Kapil Dev. Actor Ranveer Singh plays the lead while Saqib Salim, Ammy Virk, Pankaj Tripathi, Sahil Khattar, Hardy Sandhu and Tahir Raj Bhasin among others play the roles of other cricketers in the team. The film is set to hit the screens on April 10, 2020.
