Actor Katrina Kaif says that he and director Ali Abbas Zafar share a close professional bond and that compelled her to read the script of Bharat, her next film featuring Salman Khan opposite her. The film was earlier being done by actor Priyanka Chopra but she opted out of it at the very last minute due to her wedding with American singer Nick Jonas. Katrina was asked to comment on the same in her latest interview with a daily and she said that despite her bond with the director, she followed the due process before getting on board that film.

Katrina talked to DNA and said, “Director Ali Abbas Zafar and I are close friends, but we have never taken our personal relationship for granted. When it comes to work, we have a strong line of demarcation. He actually sent me the script — I read it and instantly saw that it gave me an opportunity to do something different. I loved the story and that’s why I said yes to it.” She also revealed that she hasn’t signed any new film after Bharat.

The speculations were rife in the Bollywood’s grapevine that Katrina is working on a South-Indian film with Telugu star Mahesh Babu. However, the actor denies the rumours. In the same interview, she said, “I haven’t signed anything after Bharat. As for your question, no, I haven’t even been approached for the film.”

The actor had two big films in her kitty last year. However, both the films failed to perform at the Box Office. She was seen with actor Aamir Khan in YRF’s Thugs of Hindostan, while in Zero, she co-starred opposite actor Shah Rukh Khan. In the latter, which was directed by Aanand L Rai, Katrina’s performance as alcoholic superstar Babita Singh was appreciated both by the audience and the critics.
