KGF is getting an overwhelming response in Karnataka and is just behind SS Rajamouli’s blockbuster Baahubali.

The Hindi version of the movie is fighting the box office battle with Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma starrer Zero. The latter seems to have underperformed as per expectation.

KGF stands for Kolar Gold Fields. It is set in the backdrop of the late 70s and early 80s and traces the gold mining activities when the mafia was running the operations in Karnataka’s Kolar region. The movie narrates rags to riches story of a gangster. Along with Yash and Srinidhi, it also features Malavika Avinash, Achyuth Kumar and Anant Nag in crucial roles. The Hindi version got 1,500 screens whereas Kannada version and Telegu version got 400 screens each. The Tamil version was released in 100 screens.
