Actress Madhuri Dixit Nene is a pretty well-known star having starred in numerous movies that were and are a big hit at the box office with the most recent one being Total Dhamaal. Now she is all set to be seen in Karan Johar’s next big production Kalank as Bahaar Begum, a role that was to be essayed by late actress Sridevi.

At the teaser launch of the movie, Madhuri and other cast members interacted with the media, and she was asked what it felt like to be stepping into the shoes or rather a role that was supposed to be played by Sridevi. Madhuri had been offered the role after the untimely demise of Sridevi.

“Firstly, her demise was sad news for us and when I was approached for the role, it was not easy for me. I have immense respect for her. She was a good artist and a good human being too. To step into the role, when you look at it as an actress, it’s a different scenario as you add your own inputs to the character, but we used to remember her on sets as she was a part of the film,” Madhuri was quoted as saying.

“Once you start working, you have to move on and do your job as best as you can. I did that, but we all missed her terribly,” she added.

The teaser, which was released on March 12, leaves us wanting more, and Madhuri’s role as Bahaar Begum is definitely something not to be missed.

Kalank, which is set in the India-Pakistan partition era, will also star Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Sanjay Dutt in lead roles. It is directed by Abhishek Varman and produced by Karan, Sajid Nadiadwala and Fox Star Studios. The movie is scheduled to be released on April 17, 2019.
