Appearing alongside Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi in the song Chaila Kya Surat Thi from the movie Munna Bhai MBBS, actor Vishal Thakkar has been missing for the last three years. The actor was last seen at his Mulund flat by his mother when he went to borrow Rs 500 from her to watch Star Wars: The Force Awakens at a theatre. She was asked by him to accompany him for the movie on December 31, 2015, but she refused. Vishal had reportedly messaged his father later that night that he was heading out for a party. That was the last time they heard from the Taarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma actor as he went missing the next morning.

Speaking to Indian Express, Vishal’s mother Durga said, “I have no clue what happened to my son.” As per the report, the police said his girlfriend saw him last on Ghodbunder Road as he hailed an autorickshaw to Andheri for a shoot at 11.45 am on January 1. Post his last Facebook update, wishing a ‘Happy New Year’ at 12:10pm, things turned mysterious as his phone was found switched off, no hospital reported an unidentified man matching his description, there was no ransom call nor was his phone ever found switched on again with even his bank account showing zero activity ever since.

His girlfriend was under suspicion initially but later the police cleared her, finding her statement sans any discrepancies. However, Vishal’s mother revealed that his then-girlfriend, who was also a TV actor, had lodged a complaint of rape and assault against him in October 2015, a few months before he disappeared. “She frequented our house. One day they were together and the next day, she landed at my door with police,” said Durga. The family suspects that it could be the reason for his disappearance though Durga mentioned, “It was a minor fight. Later, the two of them resolved it.” The actress, who had withdrawn her complaint then, was found dead in her Kandivali flat, possibly due to a heart attack, eight months ago.

Durga added, “He was a mumma’s boy. He could not bear the insult we faced.” The report mentions the statement by Inspector N A Kulkarni, who told IE, “We don’t know if it’s a murder, or a kidnapping, or he has run away.” The police were of the opinion that he was left depressed since his acting career took a hit after the harassment complaint.
