A friend in need is a friend indeed and though television-turned-Bollywood diva Hina Khan didn’t ask for it, Naagin actor Karanvir Bohra came to her defence when he saw a troll mock her look at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival. Hina had grabbed eyeballs as she debuted on the prestigious red carpet and while netizens went gaga over her look, there were evidently some who mocked Hina for a dress.
An industry critic, Jitesh Pillai, put out a story on his Instagram handle which featured Hina’s debut on this year’s red carpet and ran it with a caption that read, “Cannes has suddenly become chandivali studios kya? (Has Cannes turned into Chandivali Studios?).” The story didn’t go down well with Hina’s industry friends, especially Karanvir, who posted a screenshot of Jitesh’s story and wrote out a stern note, giving him a flak for passing snide remards on his friend. Karan’s caption read, “I’m appalled at this insta story of @jiteshpillaai Maybe, you had things ready for you maybe you didn’t have a humble beginning, maybe you did….but I think hobnobbing with the gliterati you have forgotten your roots. This is the same chandivali studios where @iamsrk sir #naseeruddinshah sir @anupampkher ji @ektaravikapoor @sushantsinghrajput have come up the hard way and made a name for themselves. We all are very proud of @realhinakhan and for this achievement. We all are with you girl. And #jiteshpillai If you can’t say anything nice pls be gracious to not pass such snide remarks.” (sic)
While Hina is yet to reply to Karan’s post, actress Gauahar Khan, Simple Kaul and Shilpa Shetty’s businessman-husband Raj Kundra left their supportive comments on Karan’s post. Check their reactions here:

For the uninitiated, Hina walked the red carpet at the festival in a gorgeous sheer grey sparkling gown with a plunging neckline and fans were left smitten by her look. Styling her hair into a low bun with a thick lock curled to drop on one side of her face, Hina looked ravishing to say the least.
The festival will premiere Hina’s Bollywood debut film Lines. The film is directed by Hussain Khan and produced by Rahat Kazmi, Tariq Khan, and Zeba Sajid along with Jayant Jaiswal. Lines is a tragic love story set in Kashmir during the times of Kargil war. The film revolves around the story of the lives of people staying close to the LOC. The movie’s first official look will be unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival. The film also features veteran actor Farida Jalal.
