Actor Parineeti Chopra has started her preparation for the Saina Nehwal biopic. The actor plays the character of the celebrated Indian badminton player and she is going through a rigorous training schedule for the same. In her latest interview with a daily, Parineeti revealed that her routine kick starts at 5 am every morning and she hits the badminton court with her trainer. The actor also expressed her excitement of working on a film that requires her to come out of her comfort zone.

Parineeti talked to Mumbai Mirror and said, “Prep usually starts early because we have booked courts in slots when there are no distractions of any kind. We start at 6 am and wind up by 8 am. I will have to live this regimented life for the next nine months but I am pretty kicked about it. I want to do justice to the film and to Saina.”

She added that she has got a wonderful team who is equally working hard to make her fit into the role. Parineeti said, “This project is absolutely perfect for me. Amole (Gupte, director) sir and his team are ensuring I have everything that I need. A great physio team and world-class players have been roped in to train and condition me.”

The actor admitted that she is nervous considering it’s not a fiction film and the audience have got everything about Saina documented for comparisons. She said, “Everything—how Saina plays, who she has played with and against, every match she has been in—has been documented. It’s important to imbibe all that information and present it on screen. I’m happy but also very nervous.”

The biopic is expected to release early next year. Recently, producer Bhushan Kumar told the daily that they want to release the film in the year of the Olympics. He was quoted saying, “We want to wrap up Saina by this year-end for an early 2020 release, so going ahead with the project is a decision taken by mutual consent. We are glad Parineeti has come on board for the film. Saina has made every Indian proud and we can’t wait to take her story to the world in the year of the Olympics.”

Actor Shraddha Kapoor was chosen to play the lead in the film. However, she backed out of it citing date issues.
