After a brief appearance in Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari, actor Parineeti Chopra has bagged a new film. It’s an official Hindi remake of the 2016 Hollywood film The Girl on The Train. Starring Emily Blunt in the lead, the film was received well both critically and commercially. Now, in the Hindi remake, Parineeti plays the character of the alcoholic divorcee who gets involved in unexpected circumstances while aimlessly riding a train daily.

The official title of the Hindi film isn’t yet revealed but the makers have announced that it goes on floors in the UK from July this year. It will hit the screens next year – the release date isn’t revealed yet. Backed by Reliance Entertainment, the film is being directed by Ribhu Dasgupta. The director is currently busy helming Netflix web-series Bard of Blood for Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment.

American film The Girl on The Train was based on Paula Hawkins best selling book with the same name. Directed by Tate Taylor, the Hollywood film was produced by Amblin Partners, DreamWorks, Marc Platt Productions and Reliance Entertainment.

Announcing the film, Reliance Entertainment said in an official statement that they always take pride in backing up strong content and ‘compelling cinema for the new age audience’ and they believe The Girl on The Train remake will do just that.

Parineeti took to Instagram to share her excitement to be starring in the new film. She wrote in the caption of her post: “Excited, nervous but honoured to be filling in the shoes of #EmilyBlunt for the hindi adaptation of “Girl on the Train”. BLESSED❤️ @reliance.entertainment #DREAMWORKSPICTURES @amblin” (sic)

Apart from this, Parineeti Chopra has got the biopic on ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal in works. She has been training hard to play the celebrated badminton player on-screen. The actor has also got Jabariya Jodi with Sidharth Malhotra lined-up for release this year.
