Slated to hit cinema screens on April 5, the NaMo biopic, PM Narendra Modi, has announced latest entry into its cast and this time it is lead actor Vivek Oberoi‘s father Suresh Oberoi who will be joining the shoot. Suresh however, will be essaying the role of a fictional character in the movie
In a statement to IANS, film producer Sandip Ssingh said, “Suresh Oberoi’s character in the film is of a saint. It is a fictional character yet extremely important. Who better than the veteran actor who has been a part of more than 100 films to play a role like this.”
Ahead of Lok Sabha 2019 elections in May, the biopic has been preponed from April 12 and will hit the cinema screens on April 5 now. The Vivek Oberoi starrer will then clash with John Abraham‘s RAW-Romeo Akbar Walter at the Box Office.
“We are bringing this film a week early on public demand. There is a lot of love and anticipation among the people and we don’t want them to wait longer. This is a story of 1.3 billion people and I can’t wait to show it to them,” said Sandip.
The second poster, which was unveiled on Tuesday, was initially to be released by Amit Shah on Monday but following the death of Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Sunday, the poster release date was shifted and invitees were accordingly informed. The second poster shows Vivek as PM Modi, surrounded by kids coming from different religions, as identified by their attires in tricolour with a tag line at the top which reads, “Deshbhakti Hi Meri Shakti Hai.”
The biopic will discover the journey of Narendra Damodardas Modi from his humble beginning to his years as Gujarat Chief Minister onto his landmark win at the 2014 general election, finally becoming the 14th Prime Minister of India. It is being directed by National Award-winner Omung Kumar. The biopic will be shot extensively in Gujarat and across locations within the country.
