Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas are currently in a happy phase. They just got married in two lavish wedding ceremonies at Jodhpur’s Umaid Bhawan Palace. While the newlyweds, their families, and fans are busy rejoicing their alliance, the internet is abuzz with something that reeks of complete disgust and racism. An article published in a New York-based magazine was slammed on social media for writing against Priyanka, calling her a ‘global scam artist’. The author of the article, who was a woman, accused the actress of cashing on her ‘fraudulent relationship’ with Nick ‘against his will’, indicating that the Amercian singer just a wanted a ‘fling’, not a marriage. After it got heavily trolled by people on social media, several prominent names including Nick’s brother and his partner, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner, criticised the publication for giving encouragement to insensitivity through such a written piece.

Now, the woman in question here, Priyanka herself took a moment to share her thoughts on the article. She was with Nick at an event in Delhi when she was asked to comment on the article written against her. The actress said that she doesn’t want to give much importance to any hatred since she’s currently at peace in life. She said she will never let anything disturb the happiness she’s currently feeling after getting married to Nick. PC said, “I don’t even want to react or comment. It’s not even in my stratosphere. I’m in a happy place at this moment. These kinds of random things can’t disturb it”.

Calling it a racist, sexist and disgusting article, actor Sonam Kapoor took to Twitter and wrote, “For a publication that “shows women’s what they are made of” @TheCut has a lot to answer for . The article on @priyankachopra was sexist , racist and disgusting. Also it’s written by a woman which is so sad. It reeks of envy and bitterness. @mRiah shame on you!” [sic]

Swara Bhasker, who’s known to raise her voice on social media, also joined the backlash and wrote, “Depressed with the state of the world & current affairs? Here’s some good ol’ fashioned puerile filth published by @TheCut 2 add some pointless venom 2 ur day. Also someone invite @mRiah to an Indian wedding 🙄🙄🙄 Might assuage some of her misguided angst! #yellowjournalism” [sic]

Here’s what Joe and Sophie had to say:

Meanwhile, for the uninitiated, here’s an excerpt from the article, that has now been pulled down by the publication:

“After two months of dating, they became engaged in July 2018. An engagement that’s been riddled with more SponCon nonsense than even I could even dream up! Ranging from Tiffany’s to Amazon to the Google Pixel 3 phone to Ralph Lauren (the man who first dressed them as a couple), Priyanka and Nick are finding ways for their “love” make them money — circumventing the methods used by the celebrities of yore, who stuck to selling their wedding or baby photos to magazines. Priyanka’s commitment to monetizing this life milestone should have been a huge red flag for Nick, but poor thing seems to be blinded by love”.
