Actor Priyanka Chopra has revealed the details of her next project. She was present at the popular chat show The Ellen DeGeneres Show when she said that her next film is going to be about an Indian spiritual leader, Ma Anand Sheela, Osho’s disciple. The actor also revealed that while she will be acting in the project, she will also be producing it. Priyanka has got American director Barry Levinson on board as the director of the film.
Priyanka told Ellen, “I am developing a feature with Barry Levinson. He is an iconic American director. We are developing it (from the perspective of) Sheela who is this guru who originated from India.”
A video clip of Priyanka talking about the project surfaced on the internet. She can be seen showing great enthusiasm while expressing how excited she is about the film. She went on to tell Ellen how the leader was a celebrated figure in America. Priyanka added, “She was his right-hand woman and she was devious. She created a whole cult in America. He was called Osho. I don’t know if you’ve heard of him. It was amazing. I am developing that next for me to star in and produce.”
The story of Ma Anand Sheela gained popularity after the success of the documentary Wild Wild Country, which charted the growth of Osho’s community from India to set up a cult in Oregon in the US. It highlighted the role that Sheela played in the growth of the community and its downfall.
Priyanka appeared on the talk show to promote her Hollywood movie Isn’t It Romantic, which also stars Liam Hemsworth, Adam DeVine, and Rebel Wilson. The actor is also busy shooting for her next Hindi film, titled The Sky is Pink. It’s been helmed by director Shonali Bose and also features Farhan Akhtar and Zaira Wasim along with Priyanka.
