Accused of sexually assaulting a woman during the filming of Sanju, filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani is reportedly suffering adverse effects on his upcoming projects. The complainant alleged that she was assaulted over a period of six months, a claim that has made Hirani lose his credentials from Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga which he was co-producing under his banner Rajkumar Hirani Films and now a source revealed that Munna Bhai 3 will be plugged if he was found guilty.

A source told a leading news tabloid, “In a meeting in late December, it was decided that Fox would pull the plug on Munna Bhai 3 if Hirani was found guilty. The studio stands in solidarity with the survivor. VVC Films too has taken the matter seriously, and dropped Hirani’s name from the promotional material of Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga. An ICC set up by VVC Films will investigate the matter. Munna Bhai 3, however, by default, is on hold till Hirani gets a clean chit.”

The filmmaker’s close friend and partner Vidhu Vinod Chopra has refused to comment on the issue. However, his wife and popular journalist Anupama Chopra said, “I’ve met the complainant twice. Both times, I have offered my full support and recommended that she take the complaint to a legal body or a neutral party since we cannot be arbitrators or judges on this. We also offered to set up an ICC at VCF (which we have set up since then) even though a VCF ICC could not have taken up the case since she was an RHF (Rajkumar Hirani Films) employee at the time. These are two separate companies”.

Denying the allegations Hirani’s lawyer has stated, “At the outset, our client states that the allegations made against him are false, mischievous, scandalous, motivated and defamatory.”
