Actor Rajkummar Rao has opened up on the sexual harassment allegations against filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani. The actor was promoting his film Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga in an interview when he spoke his mind on the matter. The actor said that he stands by the decision of Hirani’s name being removed from the poster of Ek Ladki… and he feels for the woman.
Rajkummar talked to Huff Post India and said that most people are silent on the issue because they want to hear Hirani’s side of the story as well. Rajkummar maintained that he will stand by the results of the investigation in the case. The actor was quoted by the website saying, “It was absolutely shocking when I read the article. The Ek Ladki Ko… team took the decision to revoke his credit from the film and I fully respect and stand by that decision.” He added that he is unaware of the details in the case. Rajkummar said, “But, of course, I feel very bad for the woman. Once an inquiry is conducted, we will be in a better place to form an informed opinion.”
The Stree actor went on to say that the investigation will help people to form the right opinion. He said, “Whenever such an allegation comes out, there has to be an investigation where both parties put their points across. It’s only then we can conclusively pass an informed judgement. Only after that, we will know specifically what transpired. This is the least that can be done.”
Hirani has denied all the allegations stating that he was shocked when he got to know about the complaints. The filmmaker also expressed his disappointment over the woman’s decision to approaching media first in the matter. He was accused by a female assistant who worked with him on Sanju. The woman alleged that he ‘violated her body and mind’ over the period of six months.
