Actors Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone might just be back on-screen together with filmmaker Luv Ranjan’s next. The rumours are rife that the director is keen to cast Deepika opposite Ranbir in his untitled next, which also features Ajay Devgn in the lead. In a report published by Bollywood Hungama, it has been said that while Deepika hasn’t given her nod yet, she is most likely to work on the film.

The report quoted a source close to the director saying, “In spite of two solid male stars, Ranjan’s film has a terrific role for the female lead. Deepika is the first choice and there’s no reason why she would turn down a plum role”.

While there’s no official confirmation from any end, filmmaker Karan Johar gave a hint about Ranbir-Deepika starring in a film soon. In an episode on his chat show Koffee With Karan 6, he asked the actress about working on a film with Ranbir which is releasing during Christmas 2020. However, Deepika chose to ignore the question. The two actors have earlier worked together on films like Tamasha (2015), Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013) and Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008).

The shooting of this untitled Luv Ranjan film is expected to begin in mid-2019, the same time when Deepika is expected to finish shooting Chhapaak with director Meghna Gulzar. As for Ranbir, there’s only one big release this year-Brahmastra, hitting the screens on December 20. The actor also has YRF’s biggie, Shamshera to begin this year.

Meanwhile, Deepika talked about the kind of equation she shares with Ranbir off the screen. The actress was commenting on why Ranbir didn’t attend her star-studded wedding reception in Mumbai, when she told Filmfare, “We’ve not spoken. I mean, we spoke before the reception but we have not spoken after. But, that’s him. I’m not surprised at all. But, that’s the relationship we share and that’s the beauty of that relationship; so much is said without saying much at all.”
