After a name change, the shooting for movie Dil Bechara, which was earlier titled Kizie Aur Manny, is going on in full swing. Actors Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi had already flown to Paris for filming of the last schedule, and now Saif Ali Khan is joining them for a cameo shoot. The movie is based on author John Green’s 2012 novel The Fault in Our Stars, which was also adapted as the 2014 Hollywood film of the same name.
According to reports by the Mumbai Mirror, Saif will be playing author Peter Van Houten, who was played by Willem Dafoe in the Hollywood version. Director Mukesh Chhabra refused to divulge any details about Saif’s character in the movie, but he did admit that they shot with the actor at Quai de l’Hotel-de-ville near Montmartre.
“We shot in Paris for a week but Saif was only there for a for a few days. He gelled well with the team and we had a great time,” Mumbai Mirror quoted Mukesh as saying.
On not filming a scene at the iconic Eiffel Tower, Mukesh said, “Shooting there was surreal and no, I didn’t make Sushant and Sanjana dance around the tower.”
Regarding the change of the title, Rucha Pathak, Chief Creative Officer of Fox Star Studios, said that the new title emerged as they were completing the shoot.
“AR Rahman, who is composing the music, shared a vibrant and fun number, with lyrics penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya. When we heard the song, we found our title in it. It perfectly embodies the theme of our film,” she stated.
Mukesh added that the earlier title had been a combination of the names of both Sushant and Sanjana’s characters, but feeling that viewers would not be able to connect with it immediately, they changed it to Dil Bechara.
