Saif Ali Khan has started the shoot of his upcoming film, titled Hunter, directed by Navdeep Singh. The actor calls it his ‘most ambitious project till date’. After wrapping up the Rajasthan shoot schedule of the film, Saif has begun filming in Mumbai. The actor plays the character of a Naga Sadhu in the film and the photos of his first look are being surfaced on the social media.

In the pictures from the sets, Saif can be seen donning dreadlocks, heavily kohled eyes and those fiery expressions. He can also be seen wearing a red and black jacket, a bandana and a pair of dhoti-pants. Check out his photos here:

Saif Ali Khan hunter Naga Sadhu look

If you’re getting a deja vu, that’s probably because Saif’s look seems to be inspired by Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean. The same dreadlocks and dramatic eyes are too much for a coincidence.

Earlier, talking about the film, Saif had mentioned that he has an ‘animal-like’ character in Hunter. He told DNA in an interview, “It’s my most ambitious project till date. I don’t think I have been part of a film that has been made on this scale. It’s about a fight between two brothers and my character, who’s almost like an animal, fights for his rights.”

He added, “I play a Naga Sadhu. I have been growing hair and beard. As the story is set against a war backdrop, I had to learn sword fighting and different forms of action. There’s a lot of post-production and VFX work involved in this project as it will have many war sequences.”

Hunter also features Manav Vij in a pivotal role. The particular role, however, was earlier offered to R Madhavan. But, he injured himself before the shoot and therefore, got replaced. Saif also talked about working with the Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein star to the daily and said, “It would have been great if both of us starred in the film, but he injured himself two days before the shoot. So, we had to finalise Manav Vij. He’s fantastic in the movie.”

Saif Ali Khan Nawazuddin Siddiqui Sacred games

Saif’s last on-screen outing remains Netflix’s original web-series, Sacred Games, in which he played the character of Sartaj Singh, a troubled police officer. The series got widely appreciated with both his and Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s performances taking the limelight. Saif is yet to make a good Box Office comeback in Bollywood though.
