Actor Saif Ali Khan was rumoured to be working with daughter Sara Ali Khan in his upcoming film titled Jawaani Jaaneman. However, the actor has now denied any such possibility and revealed that the makers have cast debutant Alaia Furniturewalla, actor Pooja Bedi‘s daughter in the film. Saif talked to a leading daily and said that the team wanted to cast a new face and therefore, Sara couldn’t fit the bill. He also said that it would be wonderful to work with Sara in a film but Alaia perfectly suits the role in his current film.

In his latest interview with Mumbai Mirror, Saif revealed that Sara Ali Khan’s presence in Jawaani Jaaneman would have meant her choosing this film over everything else she did and he didn’t want that to happen considering his daughter has designed her career path well. The actor said, “Sara’s career trajectory is in a good place and in a way I’m happy it’s separate from mine at the moment.”

Saif Ali Khan also opened up about his character in Jawaani Jaaneman. Calling it a slice-of-life film, the actor said that it’s a ‘relevant family comedy’. He also called the rumours of him playing a 50-year-old Casanova in the film ‘ridiculous.’ Saif said, “It’s a modern film that people will connect with on many levels.”

Jawaani Jaaneman is being directed by Nitin Kakkar and co-produced by Saif himself and Jay Shewakramani. Meanwhile, the actor is also busy wrapping up the shooting of Om Raut-directorial Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior that reunites him with his Omkara co-star Ajay Devgn. The film has Saif playing the role of Udaybhan Rathod, the Rajput officer under the army of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. The film is being built on a huge budget and features Ajay in the titular role of Maratha warrior Tanaji Malsure. It is slated to hit the screens on January 10 next year.
