Actor Salman Khan and filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali are finally collaborating. The two have earlier worked together in Khamoshi: The Musical (1996), Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999)and Saawariya (2007). This time again, it’s a love story and Salman has given his nod to the film. Mumbai Mirror got a confirmation from Prerna Singh, CEO of Bhansali Films, who said that it’s the best thing the team is working on.

The daily quoted her saying, “Yes, Salman Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali are reuniting after 19 years for a love story. Their collaboration is the best thing that can happen in terms of story-telling.” While the superstar is currently working on his next with Ali Abbas Zafar, Bharat, the team will soon lock his dates for the Bhansali film.

The daily also quoted a source close to the development revealing that Salman and Bhansali had discussed the idea even before the release of Padmaavat. The source added, “Sanjay has been working on three scripts simultaneously and was in talks with several big actors. He has finally decided to go ahead with this one which will be spearheaded by Salman. The other members of the cast will be signed soon. The female lead will be an A-lister and they are looking at a 2020 release.”

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is meanwhile busy creating a launchpad for his niece, Sharmin Segal. The girl is gearing up for her Bollywood debut alongside Meezaan Jafri in a film directed by Mangesh Hadawale.

Notably, Bhansali’s film Salman will be his 10th directorial and will maintain his level of cinematic grandeur. The actor had starred in the director’s first Hindi feature film, Khamoshi: The Musical alongside Manisha Koirala in the year 1996. The filmmaker’s last three hit films – Padmaavat (2018), Bajirao Mastani (2015) and Goliyon Ki Rasleela… Ram-Leela
(2013) were with Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. Apart from this untitled film and Bharat, Salman has got Dabangg 3, and Veteran in his pipeline.
