Maintaining transparency even at the time when he had fallen prey to the drugs, actor Sanjay Dutt now wants to help the Indian youth get rid of drug addiction. In order to fight the same, Sanjay has extended his support to spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar‘s #DrugFreeIndia campaign.

Taking to his social media handle on Sunday, the actor, who has been vocal about his battle with drug addiction, announced his support to the anti-drug campaign that aims to eliminate drug addiction and captioned the post as, “I always wanted to do something to uproot drug addiction from India. The #DrugFreeIndia campaign is a step towards that! Because of my personal experiences, it’s a cause very close to my heart & I want to help the youth of our country. Thank you @srisriravishankar guruji for your support” (sic).

Having experienced the menace of drugs first hand and witnessing the havoc it creates, Sanjay said that it is very easy to get sucked into drug abuse but tough to come out of it since it all starts when minds are young and impressionable. This could be possible when people firmly tell youngsters that drug abuse is not cool, feels the actor reportedly. His struggle with drugs is even captured in his last year released biopic, Sanju, in which actor Ranbir Kapoor essayed the titular role.

The campaign will reportedly be organised at educational campuses in Chandigarh and Hisar on February 18 and 19 respectively and has also received support from celebrities like Sonakshi Sinha, Varun Dhawan, Kapil Sharma, Parineeti Chopra, Badshah and Varun Sharma.
