Varun Dhawan and dad David Dhawan will be teaming up soon for another commercial Hindi film to revive the popular No. 1 series. It is reported that the Dhawans are now setting up their production house and the first film from their home banner will feature Sara Ali Khan opposite Varun.
Recent trade reports suggest that the yet untitled film will be directed by David Dhawan and will go on floors in February next year. Mumbai Mirror had earlier stated that Dhawans are working quite seriously to set up their production house as they feel this is the best time for business. A source close to the family had told the daily, “It’s a family banner that they plan to launch and is in the initial stages of planning. It will be headed by David and the first film will be a commercial action-comedy. Since their previous collaborations did well at the Box Office, the family felt it’s the right time for the venture”.
The source added, “Varun’s films have been getting a good recovery on satellite and music rights, with the television premiere of Judwaa 2 setting new records. He’s one of the most saleable actors today and a big draw at the box office so it’s a win-win situation for the Dhawans”.
While there’s no official announcement on Varun’s film with his home banner, the revival of the No.1 series, which is usually associated with the rise of Govinda in Bollywood, is definitely happening.
On the work front, the actor is currently busy with Dharma Productions’ Kalank. The film features Alia Bhatt opposite him and also stars Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur in other important roles. Varun has also got a dance-based film with Remo D’Souza, which has Katrina Kaif with him. He also has another action drama, Rannbhoomi, directed by Shashank Khaitan.
