Actor Shah Rukh Khan has been actively involved with the welfare of the acid attack survivors through his non-profit organisation Meer Foundation. The actor is on a mission to get the corrective surgeries done for 50 acid-attack survivors under the initiative called ‘ToGETher Transformed’. He and his foundation dedicated the entire month of March to arrange the surgeries and have an active interaction with the survivors. King Khan himself recently met the women, who are soon going for the surgeries.

The actor also shared a post on social media a few days back asking his fans to fold their hands in prayers for the survivors. He posted an image of his interaction with the women and wrote, “All of u please put ur hands in prayer…and say Bhagwan inki zindagi ki nayi shuruaat mein…inpar karam karna…May God have mercy on them…Insha Allah. These r my sisters & need ur prayers for recovery, without distinguishing between the mode of prayer” (sic)

In his interaction with the women, SRK encouraged them to embrace their new lives and be independent. Meer Foundation released a video of the meeting wherein the superstar can be seen telling the women to take control of their lives and have faith in themselves. The video has the actor saying, “The main idea is to believe the fact that you will do something for yourself. If you have the intent everything else will follow. For everyone of us, it’s important to ensure we work for ourselves. We should do our own work without depending on anyone else. Even if it’s a small job we should do it to fend for ourselves. And at the end of the day, we must be independent.”

SRK is also seen assuring the survivors that he and his team are trying to have the best people on board to make the surgeries more effective. “In my heart, this is like a family. All of you are like my own people. I don’t know much about each of you, because everyone has their personal lives and I don’t want to get into those details. The main thing is to believe we can be independent. I’ll be in touch with the doctors and get regular updates. We will try and get the best people to work with us,” says the actor in the video.
