Actor Shah Rukh Khan is all set to make his South cinema debut with Atlee Kumar’s Thalapathy 63 starring Vijay. Soon after the news broke out, rumours of the Bollywood superstar having just a cameo in the Tamil film did round on the internet. Now, as per the latest reports, the Zero actor will have a prominent role in the film. In fact, he will play the role of the main villain, who will come into the picture towards the climax.

A source close to the project has revealed to Pinkvilla, “SRK has a prominent character that he’s playing in Thalapathy 63. It’s not like his other cameos. In fact, he is the main villain who comes in the picture only towards the climax. He has a good 15 minutes odd role, fighting Vijay. The makers wanted a leading face from the Hindi film industry to shoot for the role and when Atlee approached Shah Rukh for it, he agreed on principle to do it.”

The source further said, “It’s a four-five day shoot and the team is figuring whether to film the scenes in Chennai or in Mumbai itself.”

The appearance of SRK as the main villain in the film Talapathy 63 will also give a pan-India reach to the film.

Director Atlee thought of SRK for Thalapathy 63 was because the actor-filmmaker duo is also planning to work together on a Hindi film, which will be a remake of Mersal. The original film was also helmed by Atlee. The two have been often spotted chilling together during IPL matches in Chennai.

Lately, he has been in the news for stepping out of Farhan Akhtar’s Don franchise due to the reason best known to him. SRK has also opted out of the much-awaited Rakesh Sharma biopic titled Saare Jahaan Se Achcha. It is believed that after the failure of Zero last year, Shah Rukh consciously decided to not take up another space film and therefore, moved beyond the Prakash Kovelamudi-directorial.
