In the upcoming biopic Salute, Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan will be playing the role of Rakesh Sharma, a former Indian Air Force pilot who flew aboard Soyuz T-11 in 1984 and is the only Indian citizen to travel in space. As revealed by a source to Mumbai Mirror, Shah Rukh will soon be preparing for the film from September onwards and will shoot for two straight two months. “Shah Rukh will begin prep for the film in September and will shoot for two months straight until November-end. He will resume shooting in January. The film is expected to release in 2019 and the makers are presently finalising the leading lady,” the source revealed.
The film was initially offered to Aamir Khan who first agreed and then backed out due to unrevealed differences. It was then that Shah Rukh was approached, to which he agreed. Recently there were reports that Shah Rukh too was about to back out but according to Mumbai Mirror, he has finally locked the dates for the film. We have earlier seen SRK play the role of a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) engineer in Swades and now the actor will be seen playing the role of an astronaut.
In between the shoots, SRK will be promoting his upcoming film Zero, directed by Aanand L. Rai. In this film, SRK will be playing a double role where one of them is a vertically challenged man. This experimentation is a first for the superstar and the fans are eagerly waiting to see his new avatar on the silver screen. Apart from SRK, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma will be seen in the film in important roles. A lot of Bollywood celebs right from Rani Mukerji, Kajol, Sridevi, Deepika Padukone, Karisma Kapoor, Alia Bhatt will make special appearances in Zero.
