Filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Simmba featuring actors Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan is performing wonderfully at the box office. It minted Rs 20.72 crore on the first day and became top opening day grosser of the actor. The movie continued to win hearts on the second day of its release. It earned Rs 23.33 crore taking the total collection to Rs 44.05 crore. The numbers are expected to grow in coming days due to buzz around New Year.

Taran took to the micro-blogging site Twitter and wrote, “#Simmba roars on Day 2… While Mumbai circuit is exceptional, the other circuits that were slightly low on Day 1 have also picked up… Growth on Day 2 [vis-à-vis Day 1]: 12.60%… Expected to score big numbers today… Fri 20.72 cr, Sat 23.33 cr. Total: ₹ 44.05 cr. India biz.”

Ranveer’s last release Padmaavat collected Rs 20.72 crore on its opening. Thus, it seems like the lady luck is shining on him.

Talking about his role in the film, Ranveer told IANS, “It was not an easy role to pull off but I put my head down and put in the work and I’m overwhelmed with the love that has been poured on Simmba. Rohit has an incredible hit ratio and he has hit Simmba out of the park. The success of the film belongs to him and his phenomenal team who are there for him and beside him at all times.”

He also said, “It is an incredibly humbling moment for me. As an artist, I have always tried to experiment and I’m happy that my content choices are being loved by audiences who want to see me break my mould every single time I come on screen.”

On a related note, the actor will next be seen in Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy with Alia Bhatt. He has also signed Karan Johar’s Takht. The movie also features Vicky Kaushal, Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan.
