Simmba is refusing to slow down at the Box Office. The Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan starrer has earned Rs 13.32 cr on its second Saturday in the country. This means the domestic total of this Rohit Shetty directorial stands at Rs 173.15 cr. If the film continues to show this pace, Rs 200 cr is going to be a cakewalk for it.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to announce the Saturday collections of the film and wrote, “#Simmba is ruling the BO… Witnesses superb growth on second Sat… Expected to collect bigger numbers today… Will emerge Ranveer’s second highest grosser today, surpassing #BajiraoMastani… [Week 2] Fri 9.02 cr, Sat 13.32 cr. Total: ₹ 173.15 cr. India biz.” (sic)
Now, while the past week gave a hassle-free run to Simmba, the coming week has got two films releasing in theatres – The Accidental Prime Minister and URI: The Surgical Strike. Both the films have been able to create buzz among the audience. It will be interesting to see how Simmba, with its terrific audience appeal and star-power, be able to hold on to the screens in the coming week. As is, the lifetime run of the film is expected to be little more than Rs 250 cr.
Earlier, talking about the success of the film, Ranveer said that it’s all because of Rohit’s vision and the efforts of the entire team. He told IANS, “The record-breaking opening of Simmba is for the entire team to cherish and I thank Rohit Shetty for believing in me and trusting that I can do his masala cop film convincingly. It was not an easy role to pull off but I put my head down and put in the work and I’m overwhelmed with the love that has been poured on Simmba. Rohit has an incredible hit ratio and he has hit Simmba out of the park. The success of the film belongs to him and his phenomenal team who are there for him and beside him at all times”.
