Actress Sonakshi Sinha reacted to her father, politician Shatrughan Sinha joining Congress after serving BJP for many years. The actress was present at an award show when she was asked to comment on her father’s decision of leaving the Bharatiya Janta Party. Sonakshi said that his father should have taken the decision long back. The actress also hinted at Shatrughan not being treated well by the other party members.
She was quoted by ANI saying, “It’s his choice. I think if you’re not happy somewhere you must bring a change & that’s what he did. I hope in this new association with Congress, he’ll be able to do more good work¬ feel suppressed.” She added, “Being a party member from the beginning, from the time of JP Narayan ji, Atal ji & Advani ji my father has a lot of respect within party & I feel the entire group hasn’t been given the respect they deserve. I think he has done it a bit too late, should’ve done it long back.”
Shatrughan Sinha, who assumed office in the year 2009 after contesting from Patna Sahib constituency in Bihar, announced his decision on Thursday, March 28. He made a tweet saying, “Painfully….on the way out of BJP….But hopefully in the best direction under the dynamic leadership of my dear friend Lalu Yadav and the desirable, most talked about leader from the Nehru Gandhi family… the true family of nation builders…”
Shatrughan Sinha had come into the politics by contesting by-elections from New Delhi against his friend and actor Rajesh Khanna in the year 1992. Khanna defeated Sinha by 25000 votes and since then, the friendship between the two turned sour.
Meanwhile, Sonakshi is gearing up to work in the third Dabangg film. The actress will again be seen reprising her role of Rajjo in Dabangg 3 with Salman Khan.
