Actor Sonam Kapoor Ahuja who was recently seen in the film Veere Di Wedding thanked music artiste Leo Kalyan for liking her film. She said that the film’s team wanted to make a movie which was real and inclusive.
The British-Pakistani musician, earlier this month took to his Twitter to praise the film and wrote, “Okay, so I thought ‘Veere Di Wedding’ was the most progressive, well-rounded and three dimensional representation of both women and queer people that I have ever seen in mainstream Bollywood. Plus, it was classic feel-good vibes.” Replying to his tweet, Sonam replied earlier today and wrote, “I am so happy you feel that way Leo! We wanted to make a movie that was inclusive and real, thank you for your words”.
Leo then replied to Sonam’s tweet and wrote, “thank YOU
@sonamakapoor! as a gay desi person, you often feel invisible – and never see yourself represented positively in bollywood – so this film was truly a breath of fresh air ps. your outfits were everyyyyything. seriously”.
Directed by Shashanka Ghosh, Veere Di Wedding revolves around four childhood friends Kalindi (Kareena Kapoor Khan), Avni (Sonam Kapoor Ahuja), Meera (Shikha Talsania) & Sakshi (Swara Bhaskar) and their unbreakable bond of friendship. Things start to change when the pack of four meets after 10 years. Exploring the themes of sexuality and sisterhood, the movie went on to create quite a stir among movie-goers, initiating conversations across platforms.
