Veteran actor Soni Razdan‘s latest statement about why she doesn’t want to speak on Kashmir-related issues has created a stir online. The actor is busy promoting her upcoming film No Fathers In Kashmir in the media. During one promotional interaction, she was asked to reveal why she doesn’t express herself enough on the matters related to Kashmir. Soni, who’s also a proud mother to actor Alia Bhatt, said that she has been asked to go to Pakistan whenever she has commented on Kashmir.

In an interview with Navbharat Times, Soni said she has often been attacked and called a traitor by people who ask her to leave India and go to Pakistan. She added that there’s so much hate she can actually consider living in Pakistan and enjoy the good food available there. The Hindi news daily quoted the actor saying, “Ab jab main aisi baatein karti hoon toh log mujhe deshdrohi kehkar Pakistan behjna shuru kar dete hain. Kabhi kabhi main sochti hoon ki haan, mujhe Pakistan hi chale jana chahiye, main bohat khush rahungi Pakistan jaakar, wahan khana bhi bohat achha hai. Yahan toh bhagate hain log mujhe, bohat baar mujhe logon ne kaha ki tum Pakistan jaao, lekin meri tarah ki soch rakhne wale bohat zyada log hain, isliye mujhe isse koi zyada fark nahi padta hai ki kaun kya kehta hai.”

Soni also recently shared her views on why actors are often asked to comment on the issues of national importance. While at the trailer launch of her film, she told the media that it’s just not the duty of actors to take care of things that concern us as the citizens of the country, but everyone is responsible. She was quoted saying, “Forget being an actor-director, we as citizens have the responsibility to make the country a better place. And that doesn’t mean advertising other people’s agendas it means looking at what is wrong and making it right.”
