Dharma Productions’ latest offering to the audience – Student Of The Year 2 hit the theatres on May 10 and has earned Rs 12.06 crore on its opening day. The film that features Tiger Shroff performing some larger-than-life action on-screen has emerged as the second highest opener for the actor at the Box Office. The Punit Malhotra-directorial has received mixed reviews from the audience. SOTY 2 is also the debut Hindi film for two lead female faces in it – Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria.

While the first day business of the film isn’t bad, it has to work on both Saturday and Sunday to register a collection worth writing about. Despite the great promotions that the film’s cast went on to do to create the buzz, the word-of-mouth around Student Of The Year 2 doesn’t seem entirely good. However, it has been deemed as an out-and-out commercial cinema targeting the college and school-going youth. Most part of the audience on social media has called it an entertainer appropriate for young moviegoers.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh revealed the latest Box Office collection of Student Of The Year 2 on Twitter and wrote, “#StudentOfTheYear2 puts up a fairly good total on Day 1… Biz slowed down towards evening shows… Sat and Sun crucial… Substantial growth – especially at plexes – is essential for a healthy total… Fri ₹ 12.06 cr. India biz. #SOTY2 is Tiger’s second highest opener *so far*.” (sic)

He also made another tweet revealing the list of all the biggest openers of Tiger Shroff at the Box Office. Baaghi 2 still tops the list with Rs 25.10 crore in its kitty on day 1, SOTY 2 follows. Here’s the list:
