Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma is all set to play the role of Mamta, a simple, innocent, sincere yet ambitious embroiderer in her upcoming film Sui Dhaaga- Made in India. The Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi star will only be seen wearing sarees throughout the film. Although she looked extremely comfortable in a saree, Anushka said her body language changed because of the attire.
“I am not used to wearing a saree, unless for events or something. Mamta is someone who wears saree every single day, that is what she wears. I had to be so comfortable doing jhadu (sweeping), cooking, climbing up and down the stairs in a saree,” said Anushka. “No matter what I would be doing, the pallu would stay on my head because I had to be used to it. Normally I don’t laugh like how I am laughing in the movie but because of the pallu, it automatically went on the face. Towards the end, I got so used to it that I constantly kept putting pallu on my head, and my body language changed because of the pallu,” she added.
This is not the first time we are getting to see this side of Anushka. She has played a similar role of a village girl in Salman Khan’s Sultan (2016) and in Phillauri (2017).
In the film, Anushka is seen balancing home and work with equal ease, as she, along with her husband Mauji (Varun Dhawan) become self-reliant using her talent of embroidering.
Directed by Sharat Kataria and produced by Yash Raj Films, Sui Dhaga – Made In India also stars Varun Dhawan and is based on the story of self-reliance and high spirits of the two lead characters – Mamta and Mauji. Anushka and Varun, who have come together for the first time on-screen, beautifully portray a heartwarming story of pride and self-reliance while taking the message of ‘Made in India’ forward.
Sharat Kataria has helmed the project and it has been bankrolled by Maneesh Sharma under the banner of YRF. The movie is all set to hit the screens on September 28, 2018.
On a related note, Anushka will also be seen in Zero alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. On the other hand, Varun is all set to feature in Karan Johar’s Kalank alongside Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt.
