Actress Taapsee Pannu has shared a behind-the-scenes still from her upcoming film, titled Saand Ki Aankh. The picture shows her alongside Bhumi Pednekar as they both make cow dung cakes. Taapsee and Bhumi are playing real-life characters in the film, who are the world’s oldest female sharpshooters – Chandro Tomar (86) and her sister-in-law, Prakashi (81). The two women live in the Johri village of western Uttar Pradesh.
While sharing the picture, Taapsee wrote on Instagram, “के ख़ुस्बू आन लाग री है…… दिखे कुछ कमाल का पक रेहा है…. what say @bhumipednekar 😉” (sic)
The film, directed by Tushar Hiranandani, also features Prakash Jha and Vicky Kadian in important roles. It is set in a rural background with Taapsee and Bhumi taking over the screens as badass, fearless women from UP. Saand Ki Aankh is being produced by Anurag Kashyap.
Meanwhile, Anurag and Taapsee have announced another collaboration. Taapsee’s last film, Manmarziyaan was directed by Kashyap and now the two are coming together for a supernatural thriller. Talking about the same, the director told Mumbai Mirror and said, “Taapsee keeps me on my toes and is on a mission to make me take on challenges. I have never done anything like this before, so I am looking forward to it.” Taapsee added that she knew they would reunite in the future but didn’t know it would happen so soon. She told the daily, “I didn’t know it would happen so soon. We had been discussing stories and this one received a resounding ‘yes’ from everyone. I am looking forward to it as I have not explored the supernatural genre in Hindi films yet.”
Bhumi has also got an impressive lineup of films with Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare, Womaniya, Pati Patni Aur Woh and Takht among others in which she’s playing relatively small roles.
