Tanushree Dutta, who has accused Nana Patekar of harassing her during a 2008 shoot, saying her allegations should “shake the core” of the nation where the “ugliness of misogyny” has suppressed those that have dared to speak up.

Tanushree revealed that Nana along with choreographer Ganesh Acharya had harassed her when she refused to do what they had asked her to. She had talked about the issue with the media 10 years ago but she did not get any support from the industry then. This time, the actor has received a lot of support from her fans and celebrities as well.

In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Tanushree Dutta shared how the situation has changed in the last 10 years. “Nobody is looking at it as my story or my problem. This is rampant across industries. Harassment, intimidation, threatening to silence a victim through attacks — these have happened in the past to many people, and everybody is praying to put an end to this. I have received hundreds of messages by people who are praying to find retribution,” said the actress.

She added, “Even after the harassment, I could have continued doing films. I had a lot of offers. But it’s disheartening to see the response from the industry. These people were still working and pretending like they didn’t see it. Then you tend to lose confidence”.

Several celebrities like Freida Pinto, Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Sonam K Ahuja, Parineeti Chopra, Richa Chadha, Swara Bhasker, Twinkle Khanna and others came out in support of her.

After the allegations made by Tanushree against Nana Patekar, Nana’s lawyer told the media that a legal notice has been sent to Tanushree but Tanushree stated that she has not received it as of yet.
