Vicky Kaushal starrer Uri: The Surgical Strike has maintained its fabulous run at the Box Office. The film, directed by Aditya Dhar, has earned Rs 3.36 crore on Friday, day 22. This means the total collection of the film now stands at Rs 174.43 crore. The collections have also promised that there’s no stopping for the film to reach Rs 200 crore now.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to announce the latest Box Office collection and wrote, “#UriTheSurgicalStrike continues its fantastic journey… Biz on [fourth] Fri is *higher* than [third] Thu [₹ 3.31 cr], which speaks of its incredible hold… Will cross ₹ 175 cr today [Sat; Day 23]… [Week 4] Fri 3.36 cr. Total: ₹ 174.43 cr. India biz. #Uri #HowsTheJosh” (sic)
Here’s how Uri has reached Rs 175 crore-benchmark in its run at the Box Office:
Rs 50 cr: Day 5
Rs 75 cr: Day 8
Rs 100 cr: Day 10
Rs 125 cr: Day 13
Rs 150 cr: Day 17
Rs 175 cr: Day 23
What Uri has earned on Friday in its week 4 is what the new release Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga has earned on its opening day.
The film is going from strength to strength at the ticket window despite the release of two anticipated films – Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi and Thackeray. Uri’s success also lies in the fact that it has resonated with the audience’s recollection of an event that happened recently. The film has been liked by both the audience and the critics alike. It’s a fictionalised account of the retaliation taken out by the Indian Army for the 2016 Uri attack, was also declared tax-free in Uttar Pradesh with CM Yogi Adityanath lauding it.
“This is a movie on the surgical strikes, the cabinet has decided to exempt it from state GST. This film is about the country’s valour and will instill a feeling of nationalism and patriotism… This will help youth and all citizens of the country to see it,” he had said.
