Blockbuster film Uri: The surgical Strike has earned Rs 171.07 crore at the Indian Box Office. The film, featuring Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam in the lead, has continued with its impressive run at the ticket window by ending its week 3 on a high note. The week 3 Box Office breakup of Uri… is as follows:
Friday: Rs 4.40 crore
Saturday: Rs 9.86 crore
Sunday: Rs 9.28 crore
Monday: Rs 3.43 crore
Tuesday: Rs 3.39 crore
Wednesday: Rs 3.37 crore
Thursday: Rs 3.31 crore
Total: Rs 171.07 crore
With this collection, the Aditya Dhar directorial now eyes to reach Rs 200 crore at the Box Office, which should not be a problem if the film continues with its existing pace. The Box Office benchmark for Uri… includes earning Rs 71.26 crore in its week 1, Rs 62.77 crore in its Week 2 and Rs 37.04 crore in its week 3.
Interestingly, the week 3 total of Uri… is highest than that of three of the most successful films of 2018 – Padmaavat (Rs 31.75 crore), Sanju (Rs 31.62 crore) and Simmba (Rs 20.06 crore).
Trade analyst announced the week 3 figures of Uri: The Surgical Strike and wrote, “Fri 4.40 cr, Sat 9.86 cr, Sun 9.28 cr, Mon 3.43 cr, Tue 3.39 cr, Wed 3.37 cr, Thu 3.31 cr. Total: ₹ 171.07 cr. India biz. #Uri #HowsTheJosh” (sic)
The film is going from strength to strength at the ticket window despite the release of two anticipated films – Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi and Thackeray. Uri…’s success also lies in the fact that it has resonated with the audience’s recollection of an event that happened recently. The film has been liked by both the audience and the critics alike. It’s a fictionalised account of the retaliation taken out by the Indian Army for the 2016 Uri attack, was also declared tax-free in Uttar Pradesh with CM Yogi Adityanath lauding it.
“This is a movie on the surgical strikes, the cabinet has decided to exempt it from state GST. This film is about the country’s valour and will instill a feeling of nationalism and patriotism… This will help youth and all citizens of the country to see it,” he had said.
