After delivering a terrific Box Office performance with Uri: The Surgical Strike, actor Vicky Kaushal has landed a new project. He will be directed by Shoojit Sircar in a biopic on revolutionary Udham Singh. The announcement was made in the morning today, on March 4. Titled Udham Singh: The Story Of a Freedom Fighter, it has Ronnie Lahiri on board as the producer. The film is the third one in Vicky’s pipeline. The other two films are an untitled one with Bhumi Pednekar and Karan Johar‘s Takht.
Both Vicky and Shoojit seem very excited to be working with each other on the film. While expressing his happiness to Pinkvilla, Vicky called it a dream opportunity. He said that he has always been a fan of Shoojit’s storytelling style and he’ll make sure to give more than 100 per cent to Udham Singh. Vicky was quoted by the portal saying, “It’s a surreal feeling because it’s like a dream come true as I am finally getting to work with him. I have always been a big admirer of how Shoojit sir looks at his stories. The way he is looking at the character (Udham Singh) and the world is extraordinary as well as beautiful. Plus, it’s also a big honour for me that finally, I am going to be directed by him. Honestly, that’s something that will take time to sink in.”
Shoojit praised Vicky for being a good actor and said that his Punjabi roots are an advantage for Udham Singh. He said,” If you look at Vicky’s track record, he is taking brave steps and making some really fabulous choices. I wanted an actor who is ready to give his heart and soul to the film. Plus, he is a Punjabi boy and my film is a story of a Punjabi man. So, in many ways, he turned to be the obvious choice.” Watch out!
