Actor Vicky Kaushal is playing the character of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in Karan Johar‘s big period film Takht. Ever since his role was announced, it was believed that Vicky will take inspiration from Ranveer Singh‘s portrayal of Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat. However, the actor differs. In his latest interview with a news channel, Vicky Kaushal explained that there’s no comparison between Khilji and Aurangzeb and while he admires Ranveer’s performance, he won’t like to emulate it in Takht.
He told Rajeev Masand in an interview that Ranveer’s performance as Khilji in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film was ‘mind-blowing’, but he sees his performance as Aurangzeb in Takht ‘on a different colour palette.’ The actor was quoted saying, “Because I know the film (Takht) and how Aurangzeb is in the film, I can say that it’s a completely different colour palette.”
Vicky added that he likes how Ranveer brought unabashedness to his character in the film and he would like to bring that trait in his performance. The actor said, “It’s like (when you are told) ‘don’t think of an elephant’, you only end up thinking of the elephant. I’m a huge fan of this performance as Khilji, the way he played it unabashedly was absolutely mind-blowing.”
Interestingly, Takht also features Ranveer Singh with Vicky Kaushal. The Padmaavat star plays the role of Dara Shikoh in the film, who was considered as the righteous ruler of the Mughal throne. The film stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor in important roles apart from Ranveer and Vicky.
Meanwhile, Vicky is currently busy shooting for an untitled horror film. He is also rumoured to be reuniting with his Uri director Aditya Dhar for a film on mythological character Ashwatthama.
