Touted as the costliest Kannada film, Yash starrer KGF: Chapter 1 (Kolar Gold Fields) has released in five languages and has been dominating the box office like a boss against the much-anticipated movie of 2018, Zero, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif. Both the movies released on the same day. As per the reports, Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero, which had a relatively bigger release (4380 screens) in comparison to KGF (1800 screens), was only able to rake in Rs 40 crore (approx.) on its second day.
While Zero has been under-performing, KGF going beyond the expectations. On Day 1, Zero collected Rs 20.14 crore while KGF clocked Rs 18 crore. Zero was expected to increase numbers on its second day but failed to impress the Box Office as it managed to rake Rs 17 crore . KGF registered impressive numbers and showed a growth with a collection of Rs 19.25 crore approx. While the total business of Zero stands at Rs 37.14 crores approx. so far , KGF’s total business stands at around Rs 37.25 crore.
Trade analyst and film critic, Taran Adarsh, shared the figures and reviews for both the movies on his Twitter handle.
In Karnataka, KGF has earned Rs 12 crore , in Nizam/Andhra Rs 2.50 crore, in Tamil Nadu Rs 1.25 crore and Rs 50 Lakhs in Kerala. In order to set a respectable first-weekend business, Zero needs to show good growth on Sunday.
