Cannes Film Festival 2018 has become a discussion point for Bollywood fans, what with actresses like Kangana Ranaut and Deepika Padukone making stylish appearances at the French Riviera. And now, we have Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s grand appearance to look forward to. This will be followed by Sonam Kapoor walking the red carpet on the May 14 and 15. But if you thought that was all from Bollywood this Cannes 2018 which ends on May 19, you are wrong. Janhvi Kapoor, who is yet to make her Bollywood debut with Dhadak, will be walking the red carpet on May 16 and the reason is heartwarming.
The budding actress has been invited to the film festival to be part of the special honour being bestowed upon her late mother and legendary Indian actress – Sridevi. The late actress will receive a special salute for her contribution to cinema as part of an event, Titan Reginald F. Lewis Film Honours (a celebration of diversity and excellence in cinema), at Le Majestic Beach, Cannes Film Festival 2018 and Janhvi, sister Khushi and father Boney Kapoor will attend the event.
Talking about the same, Boney told HT, “I’m happy that people from the world over are recognising her body of work and her contribution to cinema. Even though the overwhelming emptiness of losing her remains, it’s comforting to know that she lives on through her work.”
Earlier this month, the actress was bestowed upon with the National Film Awards where she posthumously won the Best Actress award for Mom (2017). The actress not only worked in Hindi films but was a known face and name and much loved actress in South Indian cinema as well. It is only befitting that her work is being recognised and honoured on not just Indian but international platforms as well.
