Arjun Rampal‘s Daddy released yesterday along with Deol brothers’ Poster Boys. The highly-anticipated movie Daddy was a dud at the box office and so was Poster Boys. Yes, both the films did not enjoy good occupancy rates in theatres. According to a report in Bollywood Life, Arjun Rampal’s film Daddy has managed to only collect a total of Rs 2.30 crores on its opening day. It was a really sad weekend for the Bollywood fans as both the movies that were released yesterday, received a lukewarm response at the ticket counters.
Well, even the low-budget films like Ayushman Khurrana–Bhumi Pednekar starrer Shubh Mangal Saavdhan and Bareilly Ki Barfi had better openings than Arjun Rampal’s Daddy, with a collection of Rs 2.71 crores and Rs 2.42 crores, respectively. So, speaking of his expectation from the recently released film, Trade Expert Akshaye Rathi (who is an exhibitor and distributor), told us, “Daddy definitely looks interesting. Since it is based on the life of Arun Gawli, parts of tier II and III cities of Maharashtra are looking forward to it. Looking at the trailers and the songs, we can say that it’s made in a very gritty and stylish way.”
Another trade analyst Taran Adarsh had taken to Twitter to share his box office predictions for this week, he wrote, “BO following similar pattern for *most* new films… Fri morning/noon = lukewarm… Biz picks up towards evening if film rich in merits…” But later, expressing his disappointments with the new releases, Taran tweeted, “This Friday is no exception… #PosterBoys, #Daddy, other new films start slow…” He further added, “Here’s hoping there’s a +ve turnaround before day ends.” Well, we too hope that the film picks up in the coming days.
