Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter starrer Dhadak is the Hindi remake of the super-hit Marathi film, Sairat that’s being bankrolled by Karan Johar and directed by Shashank Khaitan, who also directed Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania. While Sairat was a love story between an upper-caste girl (Archi) and a fisherman’s son (Parshya), based in Maharashtra, Dhadak is said to be slightly different from the original story, and is based in Rajasthan. Sairat covered the sensitive topics of caste discrimination and honour killings, and Dhadak is reportedly set to touch upon these issues, albeit in a different way.
It was on November 15, that KJo took everyone by surprise when he shared the first look of Dhadak. A few days later, it was reported that Farah Khan was coming on board as a choreographer to make Janhvi and Ishaan dance to the tunes and beats of the highly popular Marathi track from Sairat, called Zingaat. Now we hear that the film’s song, Yaad Lagla, will also be a part of the Sairat remake since the makers are aware of its popularity. Sairat was the first ever Indian film, to record its music at Sony Scoring Studios in Hollywood, LA b music composers Ajay-Atul (Gogavle). A source close to the development told India.com exclusively that Karan Johar wants to retain most of the songs from the original film as its music was an instant hit among the audiences.
“The music was undoubtedly a hit among the audiences and was also one of the reasons behind the film doing so well. Karan Johar wants the same thing for his film as well. Yaad Lagla is definitely going to be a part of Dhadak and so is Zingaat,” the source said. Meanwhile, take a look at the making of the song, ‘Yaad Lagla’ below :
