Vijay, like many other Kollywood stars, joined the protest conducted by Nadigar Sangam at Chennai’s Valluvar Kottam. For the uninitiated, the basic premise of the protest was to urge the Centre to form the Cauvery Management Board soon and also oppose the Sterlite Copper Plant in Thoothukudi. The protest was attended by the biggies of the Tamil film industry right from Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Suriya to Dhanush. Well, now as if to start a new controversy, a video of the Mersal actor disrespecting the Tamil Nadu state anthem, Tamil Thai Vazhthu, by not standing up for it has started to do the rounds on the internet. Well, the authenticity of the video clip cannot be ascertained but all we can do right now is just hope that it’s not him.
Producer Dhananjayan Govind lent his support to the actor by tweeting, “Seen a cooked up video posted in various groups showing @actorvijay sir sitting while the #TamizhThaaiVaazhthu was sung by #Nasser sir & others yesterday. Totally fabricated video as he stood along with us & sang to inaugurate the silent protest was the fact/truth (sic),” he wrote.
We know that Vijay enjoys quite a fan following down south. Thus one can only imagine them all coming out in support of the superstar. They have been posting the actual videos from the event, which show the actor standing up for the anthem. Meanwhile, on the professional front, Vijay is vcurrently busy with his next film, ie more or less titled Thalapathy 62.This will be Vijay’s third collaboration with director AR Murugadoss after Thupakki and Kaththi.
