One of the most sought-after couples of the telly land, Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim, who shot to fame with characters Simar and Prem respectively in one of the longest-running and much-celebrated Star Plus’ shows Sasural Simar Ka, have tied the knot in a traditional but private ceremony, following the Muslim traditions. To get some privacy from the constant media glare, the couple had a destination wedding at Shoaib’s home in Maudaha, which is his ancestral home. The actors first met on the sets of Sasural Simar Ka seven years ago and the two instantly hit it off.
Though the wedding was a close-knit affair with only close friends and family in attendance, the newlyweds hosted a hosted a grand reception for their friends and colleagues at Juhu’s Sea Princess Hotel, in Mumbai, on Monday (February 26). In attendance were Sanaya Irani-Mohit Sehgal, Bharti Singh-Haarsh Limbachiyaa, Sharad Kelkar-Keerti Kelkar, Pritam Singh-Aman Jot and Dipika’s best friend and co-actor Falaq Naaz.
The couple wore an outfit from Kalki Fashion (the official wedding designer of Shoaib and Dipika) for their reception, Dipika wore a golden full sleeved gown with a golden veil, while Shoaib donned a red and gold sherwani with a golden shawl. The actress had let her hair down and she looked like a princess right out of fairy tale at her reception. Just like their pre-wedding ceremonies, the couple had one filmy wedding reception. For the uninitiated, the TV actress had a troubled married life in the past. Now, (after she divorced her ex-husband Raunak Mehta) Dipika is in a happy space as she found again found love in (her longtime beau) Shoaib Ibrahim. But the couple had a few issues in their marriage and the major hindrance in their lives was that the two belong to different religions but fortunately their strong friendship and love towards each other defy all such problems.
