After the stupendous success of MS Dhoni‘s biopic and Sachin Tendulkar‘s documentary, everyone has been waiting to see more and more biopics on the life of their favourite cricketers. If latest reports are to be believed then the production house, Alt Balaji, is planning a biopic on the book, A Century is not Enough, about the cricketing career of former India captain Sourav Ganguly.
The book was launched two months ago in a five-star hotel in Kolkata five-star hotel. The book is co-authored by the cricketer himself, which he calls as an “experience based book.” The book is based on his unforgettable journey from Kolkata’s Biren Roy Road to the balcony at Lord’s, and eventually, the Indian Premier League.
As per sources inside the production house, the management is currently in talks with the former Indian skipper. Rounds of talks were held with the cricketer when he was in Mumbai and then again in Kolkata and as per sources Sourav is highly excited to see a famous Kolkata director helming the project, albeit Ekta Kapoor wants a director from Mumbai directing it. Whether the film will be a docu drama or a biopic, is yet to be decided by Sourav and the team, but it’s almost certain that when the film does see the light of day, it will be shot in locations across the world, including the legendary Lord’s balcony, where the cricketer had his iconic moment. Sourav Ganguly was quoted by The Indian Express as saying, “I have had a few discussions with Balaji, though nothing is final yet. I’ll have more details once we take this forward.” Stay tuned to this space for more updates.
