The new song of folk band Euphoria released a few days ago and has been trending on Twitter for all the right reasons. The song, called Halla Bol, takes a dig at actors Salman Khan (his Dabangg step) and Aamir Khan (PK nude pose), rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh, politician Arvind Kejriwal, Times Now editor Arnab Goswami and the funny breaking news these days, and everything that is wrong (or right) with India right now.
Euphoria was a very popular band in the nineties and early 2000s, and continues to be popular in the college circuit with their all-time hits Dhoom Pichuk Dhoom, Maeri and Kabhi Aana Tu Meri Gali. But the folk band’s frontman Dr Palash Sen had recently released a video saying how Euphoria has suffered as the Indi-pop scene is dead in India right now. They released a few songs over the years; Palash even appeared in a Hindi movie as a lead actor, but somehow the youth do not identify with Indi-pop anymore.
The new song Halla Bol tries to break that jinx by using more youthful lingo, while using a funky music video to bring home the point of all that is wrong with our idols – be it movie stars, music stars or politicians.
Halla Bol may not be Euphoria’s best song and tries too hard to appeal to the young, but it’s a good effort nevertheless and many youngsters will like it. Watch video here.
